The benefits of Rose Water for your face, and other uses, make your own.

Rose water is simply a perfumed water. It is made by distilling the petals of the rose with steam, or steeping the petals in water. This creates a Rose scented water whose essence benefits skin. Rose Water has been hailed as a cooling, kind skin spray, toner, and tonic for all faces.

I’ve discovered there’s a pretty simple way to make it. Here I will share my recipe and method of making your own at home. I have added vegetable glycerin to add emollient, but this is not essential for you to add. Other ideas is Aloe Vera juice from the plant, cucumber water from squeezed pulp. However they may shorten the shelf life of the water.

Rose essential oil can also be used in water. But used in small drops, and the water needs shook up before sprtitzing. Hydration Boost, is scented with the most fragrant of all anti aging essential oils, Rose Otto.

What you need to make it.

  • 4-6 fresh Roses, scented is best. Ask a Rose grower of he can help you out.
  • 1 ltr. of cooled boiled water, or use a bottle of purer Evian water.
  • Optional from a Chemist, 30mls Vegetable Glycerine
  • A Small Saucepan
  • A Wooden spoon
  • A Colander
  • A Large bowl
  • A Sieve
  • A Jug
  • 15mls measuring spoon

Method

Gently rinse the roses under warm water, gradually pulling at the petals and washing them, drop into the colander to drip.

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the rose petals and water to a boil.

The petals will float, so I recommend placing a smaller lid on top of the roses during the heating/cooking process. This will keep the petals submerged in the water. Switch off the heat just before boiling and leave it to infuse for 40 minutes.

  • After infusing the water, strain off the rose petals using a bowl and a fine mesh sieve. A large coffee filter may also work for this step. Discard the petals.
  • Pour the water into your jug, and at this stage
    • Optional, Add the Glycerine . Mix well.
  • Pour into bottles and keep in the fridge. You can freeze the surplus to keep the rosewater from spoiling,

The water can now be used as a facial toner, cleanser, refresh spritzer. Keep small amounts in a spritzer bottle in the fridge.

Apply lightly and do a skin test, like all natural essences, Rose has natural allergens. Do not overdose.
